vidIQ for Youtube stats and Analytics

by | Sep 29, 2014

So what is vidIQ?

Basically, vidIQ is a program designed to help improve your Youtube SEO, strategy, and insights.

Their tag line is:

More Views, Less Time. Organic video marketing for the next generation of brands and entertainers.

Essentially what it does is help your Youtube videos get more views. More eyes, more engagement, and assumingly, better results. The first way they do this is by finding and increasing the number of relevant tags in your video (SEO!).

They claim that…

58% of viewers arrive at your videos because of YouTube Search and Related Videos.

…and by increasing the number of Related Video lists the video appears on, you’re able to drive more audience. This makes a lot of sense. If you’re in the business of making tutorial videos for how to stretch properly, it’d be important that when someone types in “easy hamstring stretches” that your video pop up at the top of the list.

The second way they help is by:

…identify talent that fits your target audience and is appropriate for your brand, and then facilitate and manage a content partnership with them.

This is actually a quite interesting concept. They call it the Influencer Campaign Management. This is where they find Youtube stars, or channels, that they think will work with your brand.  It’s to note though, that all vidIQ does is introduce you with your influencer. How that relationship works beyond is territory uncharted. It’s an idea that has potential but questions do rise. For example, are the influencers informed about this? What if they don’t choose to start a relationship? What content is created?

A third thing vidIQ has is perhaps what we find most interesting. It’s called Whitespace Detection and its purpose is to identify search terms that people are typing only to find no content under that space. It’s based on opportunity spaces. For companies that have mostly have their defined space, it seems to be a strange piece of offering from vidIQ. Of course though, this has the ability to create an unique insight into places a company can expand to and it will be interesting to hear how companies are using this.

Other than that, vidIQ offers the services many social agencies or teams offer. They track all the necessary analytics and performance and have the claim that their tweaking will increase your video’s success.

If there’s one thing to note though, their site is filled with business jargon that makes me wonder whether they are glorifying their services. For example…

Our mission is to help your brand leverage tools and strategy to master your video marketing initiatives and grow a loyal audience of consumers.
